Moscow has 97 parks, each seemingly more beautiful of the next. Many are medium sized parks sprinkled amongst the city center, providing a bit of respite, while many are actually in the hundreds of acres each (Tsaritsyno, Kolomonskoye, Kuskovo, Gorky Park, VDKNh, Filiofskaya, etc etc) where you can literally spend all day in. It's really quite impressive.
One thing that the Soviets did admirably well was to preserve, and develop open space for the people to recreation and relaxation. In fact many of today's more grand parks are converted former palaces and grounds of the Tsars (which remarkably were not looking, destroyed or damaged by Russians after the communist revolution). Here's some of our favorite spots !
